
The Rivers State Police Command has arrested a man for allegedly killing his father, a retired marine captain, during a dispute over property in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state.
The tragic incident occurred at Oro Ekpo Estate, Ada George, and has left residents of the area in shock and mourning.
According to police authorities, the suspect is currently in custody while investigations are ongoing.
The spokesperson of the command confirmed that further details would be made available as the case progresses.
Sources familiar with the incident revealed that the deceased had recently concluded plans to relocate to his hometown in the South-East. As part of the process, he reportedly invited his children to inform them of his decision and to share his properties among them.
However, tension arose when one of his sons allegedly demanded ownership of a specific car, a request the father declined.

It was gathered that the suspect allegedly lay in wait inside the residence and attacked his father when he returned from his routine morning exercise.
A domestic staff member who attempted to intervene reportedly escaped unharmed after being threatened.
The victim reportedly tried to flee despite sustaining injuries but was pursued and further attacked.
Neighbours were alerted by a house help, prompting a distress call to the police. Officers from the Rumuokpani Police Division responded swiftly, arrested the suspect, and took him into custody.
The police have assured the public that a thorough investigation is underway and that justice will be served.
