
Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku etched his name into FIFA World Cup history after playing a key role in Belgium’s victory over the United States in the Round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup.
The veteran forward came off the bench in the 67th minute and scored deep into stoppage time to help Belgium seal a convincing 4-1 win and book a place in the quarter-finals.

With the goal, Lukaku became the first player in FIFA World Cup history to score as a substitute in four different World Cup matches.
His previous substitute goals came against Senegal in the Round of 16, as well as against New Zealand and Egypt during the group stage of the tournament.
Belgium will now shift their focus to a quarter-final showdown against Spain, with Lukaku hoping to continue his impressive form and help his team move one step closer to the World Cup title.
