A female student of Osun State University (UNIOSUN), identified simply as Ademola, has alleged that a soldier assaulted her during the invasion of students’ hostels by military personnel in Osogbo, Osun State.
The student made the allegation in a video shared online, recounting how the incident unfolded while she was alone in her hostel room preparing a meal.
According to her, she had earlier noticed soldiers around the hostel but assumed the situation had calmed down. Moments later, the soldiers allegedly returned and began knocking on students’ doors.
Ademola said the officers shone flashlights into her room and ordered her to open the door. After she complied, one of the soldiers asked how many people were inside. She told him there were two occupants in the room but explained that her roommate was away.
She alleged that the soldier then became aggressive.

“He pinned me to my bathroom door, told me I would like it and warned me not to shout,” she said.
The student said she struggled to free herself and moved toward the door in an attempt to force the soldier out. She further claimed that another soldier entered the room and told her to remain calm, allegedly saying she would “love it” and should not scream.
According to Ademola, she raised an alarm by screaming loudly, forcing both soldiers to leave the room. She immediately shut and locked the door, while a fellow hostel resident later came to check on her after hearing the commotion.
The incident is linked to the reported invasion of UNIOSUN students’ hostels by soldiers from the Army Depot, Osogbo, on Monday evening.
Several students were allegedly assaulted during the operation, while more than 60 mobile phones and other electronic gadgets were reportedly taken. Some female students also alleged they were stripped and humiliated during the incident.
Following the allegations, the Nigerian Army Depot in Osogbo announced that it had commenced an investigation after receiving a complaint from the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Southwest Zone D.
The Army said the investigation would establish the facts surrounding the incident and assured the public that any personnel found culpable would be brought to justice.
