A young man, identified as Umar Halilu Babatuwa, has died after sustaining severe injuries in a suspected gang attack between the Dan Agundi and Nassarawa areas of Kano metropolis on Sunday night.
According to his elder brother, Aliyu Halilu, Umar left their family home in Dan Agundi at about 10:00 p.m. before he was allegedly attacked by suspected gang members. He was later brought back home with multiple stab wounds and deep machete cuts.
The family rushed him to a hospital in an effort to save his life, but he later died from his injuries.
Aliyu alleged that about 200 suspected gang members stormed the area and attacked residents.
“About 200 of them stormed the area and attacked people. We do not know exactly who carried out the attack. The way they treated us, may Allah judge them as well,” he said.

He further claimed that while taking Umar to the hospital, they encountered police officers but did not receive assistance or an escort to facilitate urgent medical attention.
Expressing frustration, Aliyu questioned the government’s response to recurring attacks, saying many lives had already been lost without justice.
The family appealed to the Kano State Government and security agencies to investigate the killing thoroughly and take decisive action to prevent further attacks in the community.
As of the time of filing this report, the spokesperson for the Kano State Police Command had not issued an official statement on the incident.
