
A fresh wave of violence has claimed the lives of a community leader, Daniel Pulle, and a woman, Deborah Benjamin Kak, in separate attacks by suspected armed assailants in Barkin Ladi and Riyom Local Government Areas of Plateau State.
According to the National Publicity Secretary of the Berom Youth-Moulders Association (BYM), Rwang Tengwong, the attacks occurred on Sunday evening.
Tengwong said Pulle, 58, who served as a community leader in Gana-Ropp, Ropp District of Barkin Ladi LGA, was ambushed at about 7:55 p.m. while riding his motorcycle home after an outing. He was reportedly shot near a bridge leading to his community and died at the scene.
In a separate incident, Deborah Benjamin Kak was attacked by gunmen at her residence in Lwa village, Bachi District of Riyom LGA. She sustained gunshot injuries and was rushed to the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH), where she later died while receiving treatment.
The Berom Youth-Moulders Association condemned the attacks, expressing concern over the continued loss of lives in Plateau communities. The group urged security agencies to intensify efforts to protect residents and prevent further violence.

Conflict journalist Kim Masara Usman also confirmed the incidents, stating that Pulle was killed just minutes from his home while returning peacefully on his motorcycle, while Kak succumbed to injuries she sustained during an earlier attack on her residence.
The latest killings add to the growing insecurity in parts of Plateau State, where residents have continued to face repeated attacks by armed groups.
