The Oyo State Police Command has dismissed reports circulating on social media that abducted schoolchildren and teachers from Ahoro-Esiele and Yawota communities in Orire LGA were moved to Kaduna State by helicopter.
Police spokesperson DSP Ayanlade Olayinka said on Tuesday that the video making the claim is false, unverified, and misleading. He stated the allegation lacks credibility and has no factual basis.
“The command wishes to categorically state that the content of the said video is entirely false, unverified, misleading, and devoid of any factual basis,” Ayanlade said.
He confirmed that rescue operations are ongoing, with the Oyo State Police Command working closely with other security and intelligence agencies to secure the safe release of the victims and arrest those responsible.

The command warned against spreading misinformation, saying it undermines public confidence and could disrupt rescue efforts. It noted that sharing false reports creates unnecessary panic and obstructs security operations.
Residents were urged to remain calm and rely only on information from official channels. The police said anyone found originating or circulating misleading content on the matter would be dealt with according to the law.
“The Oyo State Police Command remains steadfast in its commitment to protecting lives and property and assures the public that every available resource is being deployed to secure the safe return of the abducted children and teachers,” the statement added.
