
A 22-year-old man has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly posing as a police officer using a stolen police uniform and other official items.
Police authorities said the suspect, identified as Onipede Ojo, was found in possession of a police camouflage uniform, warrant card, mobile phone, ATM card, and other belongings reportedly belonging to a serving officer.
According to the police, the suspect allegedly used the uniform to present himself as a legitimate officer, raising concerns among residents who noticed irregularities in his appearance and conduct.
Witnesses reportedly questioned the young man after becoming suspicious of his activities. Their concerns led to the discovery that he was allegedly impersonating a police officer, prompting his arrest and handover to law enforcement authorities.

In a video circulating on social media, the suspect claimed he found the police uniform along Maryland Road in Lagos. However, police investigators are working to establish how he came into possession of the items.
The Lagos State Police Command confirmed that the suspect remains in custody while investigations continue. Authorities said he would be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
The command commended members of the public for their vigilance and cooperation, noting that their actions helped prevent possible criminal activities.
Police also warned residents against taking the law into their own hands, stressing that suspects should always be handed over to security agencies for proper investigation and prosecution. The command further encouraged the public to remain security-conscious and continue reporting suspicious activities to law enforcement authorities.
