
Tension has gripped Ekiti State after angry youths set ablaze a police station in Isan-Ekiti, following the alleged killing of a community member by security operatives.
The incident, which occurred on Friday night, has heightened anxiety across the state just hours before the commencement of the gubernatorial election scheduled for Saturday.
According to reports, the protesting youths stormed the police facility in outrage over the death of the young man, whose circumstances remain unclear.
A viral video circulating online captured the moment the mob invaded the station and set parts of it on fire.

In one of the clips, the lifeless body of the victim was seen lying on the ground, further fueling public anger and calls for justice.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Ekiti State Command, SP Abutu Sunday, said details of the incident were still being gathered.
“You have to hold on, I will get back to you,” he stated when asked about the cause of the violence.
The development has raised serious security concerns, with observers warning that the unrest could impact the peaceful conduct of the governorship election.
