Spain head coach, Luis de la Fuente, has revealed that Argentina forward Julián Álvarez would be his preferred signing from another national team, describing the striker as a perfect fit for La Roja’s playing style.
De la Fuente made this known while speaking to reporters ahead of Spain’s second group-stage clash against Saudi Arabia in Atlanta.
When asked to name a player he would hypothetically add to his squad, the Euro 2024-winning coach picked Álvarez ahead of other global stars such as France’s Kylian Mbappé and Brazil’s Vinícius Júnior.

“Which player would I sign from another national team? Julián Álvarez. He’s a fantastic player,” De la Fuente said.
“For my idea, he’d fit perfectly; he’d be very important. Mbappé and Vinícius are great players, but in my footballing idea, he would fit perfectly.”
Álvarez, who currently plays for Atlético Madrid, has been widely praised for his versatility, work rate, and tactical intelligence—qualities that align closely with Spain’s fluid and possession-based system.
Spain will be aiming to build momentum in their World Cup campaign as they prepare to face Saudi Arabia in what promises to be a crucial group-stage encounter.
