A suspect has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly attempting to traffic three young women from Kaduna State to Ivory Coast under the guise of employment.
The Lagos State Police Command has detained a woman accused of luring three girls, aged between 18 and 20, from Kaduna to Lagos with promises of job opportunities in a restaurant, only to allegedly prepare them for trafficking abroad.
According to reports from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the suspect brought the victims to the Ajegunle area of Lagos on May 23, 2026, where she reportedly revealed her intention to send them to Ivory Coast for prostitution.
The alleged plan began to unravel when one of the victims resisted after discovering the true nature of the arrangement.
She subsequently reported the case to the police, prompting swift intervention by security operatives.
Following the complaint, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police directed that the case be transferred from the Tolu Division in Ajegunle to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yaba, for further investigation.

The Anti-Human Trafficking and Gender Unit of the SCID is currently handling the case under the supervision of senior police officials.
A police source revealed that the victims were not informed of the intended trafficking arrangement before leaving Kaduna.
The source further explained that one of the victims raised alarm after realizing she was being moved out of the country for exploitation rather than legitimate work.
“She told the suspect that prostitution was not what they were promised,” the source said, adding that the suspect had already begun arrangements to move the victims through a motor park when the situation escalated.
Police confirmed that the suspect has been arrested, while efforts are ongoing to rescue other victims allegedly linked to the network and trace additional suspects involved in the operation.
Authorities also disclosed that investigations have been concluded and the suspect will be charged to court soon.
