Two suspects have been arrested by the Anambra State Police Command for allegedly killing a 33-year-old woman and dumping her body in a culvert near Jesus Bus Stop, Oraifite, in Ekwusigo Local Government Area.
The suspects allegedly murdered the woman on March 13 after luring her to their residence under the guise of seeking help.
The command’s spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the arrests followed intelligence and digital forensic leads.
Investigation began on March 13, 2026, when the woman’s mother reported her missing at the Oraifite Divisional Police Headquarters. The next day, the lifeless body of an unidentified female was found in a culvert near Jesus Bus Stop, Oraifite. The deceased’s father later identified the body as his missing daughter.

The case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Awka. On June 6, 2026, operatives arrested Thankgod Ikechukwu Ikwugwara, 26, and Makuochukwu Uzoigwe, 20.
Ikenga said the principal suspect, Ikwugwara, confessed during interrogation. He stated he had been in a relationship with the deceased for about three years and claimed he was unaware she was married. He alleged that after a disagreement with her husband, he developed an illness which affected his sight and, out of resentment, planned the attack.
Ikwugwara confessed that on March 13, 2026, he lured the deceased to his residence under the guise of seeking help. He and the second suspect allegedly attacked her with a machete, resulting in her death. They disposed of the body in a culvert near Jesus Bus Stop, Oraifite, in the early hours of the next day.
Both suspects have confessed to their involvement and will be charged to court after investigations are concluded.
The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, commended the detectives and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to justice for victims of crime.
