Residents of Governor’s Road in Ikotun, Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State, took to the streets over the weekend to protest the rising wave of cult-related violence following fresh killings in parts of the state.
The demonstration, which drew a large crowd of concerned residents, was sparked by recent clashes believed to be linked to rival cult groups in areas including Sangotedo (Ajah), Ikotun, and parts of Lekki.
According to community sources, at least two individuals were reportedly killed in separate incidents. The victims were identified as “Ola” and another man popularly known as “Chief Priest.”
In Sangotedo, eyewitnesses reported that a man was shot in what appeared to be a drive-by attack near a popular supermarket. The assailants allegedly arrived in a vehicle, opened fire on their target, and fled the scene immediately after.
In a separate incident in the Ikotun-Igando axis, a suspected cult member was reportedly stabbed to death during a clash between rival groups.
The repeated attacks have heightened fear and tension among residents, many of whom describe the area as a hotspot for cult-related violence.

Videos circulating online showed protesters dressed in coordinated T-shirts and carrying placards with strong anti-cultism messages. Security personnel were present at the scene to monitor the peaceful protest.
Community leaders used the opportunity to warn youths against engaging in cult activities, emphasizing that anyone found involved would face legal consequences.
Protesters also chanted slogans calling for an end to cultism and urging residents to reject criminal groups.
A resident who spoke during the protest described the situation as alarming, noting that violent clashes have become frequent in the area.
He recalled previous incidents where innocent individuals lost their lives, including a case involving a family member attempting to intervene during a disturbance at a social event.
Efforts to get an official response from the Lagos State Police Command were unsuccessful as of press time.
Residents are now calling on security agencies and the government to take urgent and decisive action to curb the growing menace and restore safety in affected communities.
