
The Borno State Police Command has successfully rescued a six-year-old boy who was reportedly abducted in Maiduguri, arresting a suspect in connection with the crime.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Nahum Daso, the child, identified as Alkali Musa from the Mafoni area, was declared missing after he left home to play on June 6 but did not return.
Preliminary investigations revealed that shortly after the boy’s disappearance, the suspect contacted the family and demanded a ransom of ₦200,000 for his release.
Upon receiving the report on June 7, the Divisional Police Officer of the Lamisula Division promptly deployed a team of detectives, launching an intelligence-driven operation to track down the suspect and rescue the victim.

The operation led to the arrest of the suspect, identified as Ali Alhaji Ali, and the safe recovery of the child, who was found unharmed and reunited with his family.
Police authorities confirmed that the suspect has confessed to the crime, and the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police in Borno State, Naziru Abdulmajid, commended the officers involved for their swift and professional response.
He reassured residents of the command’s continued commitment to safeguarding lives and property.
The police also urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and closely monitor their children, while encouraging members of the public to report any suspicious activities to security agencies promptly.
