A woman earlier reported missing and believed to have been kidnapped in Edo State has been found alive in a Delta State hotel with a man described as her lover.
Oluchi was reported abducted in the Ikpoba Hill area of Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area, prompting her family to raise alarm and appeal for public help. Her relatives told police she had been kidnapped, and ransom demands followed.
The family said the suspected abductors initially asked for ₦50 million before reducing it to ₦20 million. Oluchi’s daughter, who lives in Canada, joined the public appeal to raise the money.
Police investigations led operatives to Ubiaroko in Delta State. Detectives traced a phone number linked to one of the suspects to a hotel, where they found Oluchi with the man. A source said officers met both of them inside the hotel room and later informed her husband.
In a video that has since gone viral, Oluchi’s daughter Anita said the family was shocked by the outcome. She stated that no ransom was paid and the money raised remained intact. “We involved the Police from the beginning. We now know it was not a real kidnapping,” Anita said.

According to Anita, investigators told the family that her mother and the other individual allegedly planned to benefit from part of the funds that had been raised. She said the incident had taken a heavy emotional toll on the family, noting her father’s health issues.
The Harmony Ladies Club, which Anita belongs to, said it had offered financial, emotional, and logistical support after the alleged abduction was announced. The group said it was stunned by the findings from the police investigation.
Spokesperson for the Edo State Police Command, CSP Moses Yamu, confirmed the case and said four suspects had been arrested. He added that investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances.
Police said no ransom was paid before Oluchi was located.
