A social media content creator has gone viral for criticizing Nigeria’s worsening insecurity, saying the country can no longer normalize a cycle of violence and celebration.
In a video posted on Facebook, Fari Elysian said, “Nigeria is bleeding!!! A country where people celebrate goals at night and identify dead bodies in the morning is not okay anymore.” The post featured the caption alongside the Nigerian flag and a broken heart emoji.
She said, “I’ve lived in Nigeria for long, and staying silent about these tragedies shows I have no feelings.”
Elysian added that it is “high time people speak up and act,” arguing that prayer alone cannot be enough when action is not taken. She warned that if Nigerians continue to fold their arms, the calamity could eventually reach everyone.
