There is growing outrage in Kano State after a family accused officers of the Nigeria Police Force of allegedly killing their son while he was in custody.
The deceased’s parents said their son was healthy and showed no signs of illness before he was taken away by officers attached to Zone 1 of the police command.
According to the family, the police arrived at their home and arrested the young man without clearly explaining the reason for his detention.
They said he was taken away in good condition, but they later received information that he had fallen ill while in custody.
The situation, however, took a tragic turn when the family was informed that he had died.
The parents allege that the police later returned his body to their home.
The father, who spoke emotionally, insisted that his son was “strong and healthy” at the time of arrest, describing the incident as painful and demanding accountability from the authorities.
The mother, identified as Zainab, also called for justice, saying her son was alive and well before he was taken away and that she only learned of his death after being contacted by police officers.
