The Zamfara State Police Command has intensified its fight against banditry, successfully neutralising a suspected armed gang member and arresting three others during a targeted operation in Kasuwan Daji, Kaura Namoda Local Government Area.
The operation, carried out by the command’s Violence Crime Response Unit on May 29, 2026, followed credible intelligence on the activities of a notorious criminal syndicate terrorising residents in the area.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Yazid Abubakar, the arrested suspects identified as Ali Bahago, Hassan Dan Kure, and Dahiru Lawali are believed to be members of an armed gang allegedly led by Bahago, who has been on the police watchlist for multiple criminal activities.
During the raid, security operatives engaged the gang, resulting in the death of one member, while three others were apprehended.

A subsequent search of the gang leader’s residence led to the recovery of a cache of weapons and items, including a pump-action gun, a single-barrel gun, a fabricated G3 rifle, two Dane guns, four rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, nine pump-action cartridges, a locally made pistol, a handcuff chain, three Boxer motorcycles, and a locally made magazine.
The police confirmed that the suspects are currently in custody, and investigations are ongoing to track down other members of the syndicate and recover additional weapons.
Reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, the Zamfara State Police Command urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to aid ongoing security efforts.
This development comes amid heightened security concerns in the state, following recent reports of the killing of two local government officials in Talata-Mafara over alleged links to terrorist groups.
Authorities say operations against criminal networks will continue until lasting peace is restored across Zamfara State.
