
A tragic windstorm accompanied by heavy rainfall has claimed the life of a female food vendor in Obi Local Government Area of Benue State.
The unfortunate incident occurred on Wednesday in Obarike community along the Ogore axis, where the woman was reportedly killed after a giant tree uprooted by the violent windstorm crashed onto her food stand while she attended to customers.
Residents said the impact left the victim severely injured and she died instantly at the scene before help could arrive.
The deceased, who was said to be popular in the area for her food business, left neighbours, customers and family members devastated as mourners gathered in tears following the heartbreaking incident.

The storm also caused widespread destruction across several communities, destroying houses, shops and other business premises.
In the Ijanke community, fallen trees reportedly blocked parts of the Secretariat Road, causing traffic obstruction and panic among residents.
Reacting to the incident, the Chairman of Obi Local Government Area, Hon. Silas Odeh Ahunye, described the disaster as one of the worst natural incidents witnessed in the area in recent years.
Ahunye disclosed that his residence was also affected by the heavy storm as he sympathised with families who lost properties and relatives during the disaster.
Residents have called for urgent assistance and support for victims affected by the devastating windstorm.
