
Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have arrested three suspected kidnappers in Jattu, Edo North, following an intelligence-led operation linked to a recent abduction in the area.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Eno Ikoedem, said the arrest was made possible through credible information and a coordinated operation involving police officers and the Edo State Security Corps. The action is part of ongoing efforts to tackle kidnapping and other violent crimes in the state.
According to the statement, one of the suspects was spotted at Jattu Market on May 13, 2026, shortly after a kidnap victim, Ibrahim Jemila, was released. On May 15, at about 5:50 p.m., the Divisional Police Officer in Jattu received a tip-off that the suspect had been seen again in the market.

Acting on the intelligence, operatives moved to the location and arrested Nura Dahiru, 22, Ibrahim Yakubu, 25, and Abubakar Inusa, 23. Preliminary investigations identified two of the suspects as members of the gang behind the abduction of Jemila and another victim.
The Command said it remains committed to sustaining operations against kidnapping networks in Edo State and urged residents to share timely information through its emergency and complaint channels.
