Eight residents abducted by bandits in Awon community, Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State, have reportedly died in captivity, six months after their abduction.
The victims were among 11 residents kidnapped when armed bandits invaded the community in Southern Kaduna on April 20, 2026.
Reports indicate that the abductors initially demanded a ransom of ₦300 million and 23 motorcycles. They reportedly rejected an offer from the community and threatened to withhold food from the captives until their demands were met.
Among the deceased were a mother, her two daughters, a newborn baby, and other residents. The mother reportedly died first, while her 14-year-old daughter, who was abducted alongside her, later succumbed to a critical illness.
