According to the statement, Hisbah operatives arrested a young man and a young woman in the Filin Idi area of Birnin Kebbi on May 20 over alleged immoral conduct considered contrary to Islamic teachings and societal values.
Kamba also revealed that operatives raided a residence in Gesse Phase 2, Birnin Kebbi, where seven women and two young men were allegedly involved in drug abuse and other immoral activities.
He said some suspects escaped during the operation by jumping over the fence surrounding the building.
The statement further explained that officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, apprehended 23 foreign nationals during routine patrols and immigration checks across the state.
According to the board, the individuals were found roaming under suspicious circumstances without any visible means of livelihood before they were handed over to the Hisbah Board for further investigation.
“Officers of the Immigration Service, while conducting routine patrols and checks aimed at identifying illegal immigrants and non-citizens, came across a number of young men and women roaming under suspicious and indecent circumstances,” the statement read.
Kamba added that the Hisbah Board had commenced investigations into all the cases and assured that appropriate actions would be taken in line with the law.
