Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have rescued an elderly man who reportedly collapsed beside Dozzy Filling Station along the busy Onitsha-Owerri Road in the Okpoko area of the state.
The incident caused concern among commuters and residents as the unidentified man was seen lying unconscious by the roadside, drawing attention from passersby and slowing movement along the highway.
Eyewitnesses said many people hesitated to assist the victim because they were unsure of what caused him to collapse. Some reportedly feared he might have been under the influence of a substance or involved in an unknown incident.
Police officers attached to the Okpoko Division later arrived at the scene during a routine foot patrol and quickly moved the man to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment.
