
Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have arrested two men over the murder of three relatives in Ukpor, a community in Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The suspects, Emmanuel Nnakezie, 33, and Clement Nnaekezie, 69, were apprehended after a police investigation into the sudden disappearance of the victims.
Authorities said the killings were allegedly triggered by a dispute over a bitter kola tree and other inherited family land.
Police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the arrests were carried out on May 3, 2026, by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad in Awkuzu, following credible intelligence and sustained surveillance.

According to him, the suspects were tracked and arrested in separate locations—Oba in Idemili South Local Government Area and Ukpor in Nnewi South.
During interrogation, the suspects reportedly confessed to the crime and led police to a shallow grave where the victims had been buried.
The deceased were identified as Robert Nnakezie, 67; Ikechukwu Obi, 14; and Ukamaka Efione, aged two, who was said to be visiting the family at the time of the incident.
Their remains have since been exhumed and deposited in a morgue for autopsy as investigations continue.
Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Ikioye Orutugu, condemned the killings, describing them as barbaric and unacceptable.
He assured residents that the command would ensure justice is served.
The police said further developments would be communicated as the investigation progresses.
