The Lagos State Government has revealed that properties valued at over N118 billion were successfully saved from fire incidents in 2025, while losses from various fire outbreaks stood at N19.72 billion.
This disclosure was made by the Commissioner for Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Relations, Olugbenga Oyerinde, during the 2026 ministerial press briefing marking the seventh anniversary of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration in Alausa, Ikeja.
According to Oyerinde, the figures highlight the improved efficiency and responsiveness of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service alongside other emergency agencies.
He noted that the value of properties saved was more than six times the losses recorded, resulting in a net asset protection of approximately N98.6 billion.
Providing further breakdown, the commissioner stated that March 2025 recorded the highest value of saved properties at N12.6 billion, while August had the lowest at N6.78 billion, largely due to fewer fire incidents during the rainy season.

In a related development, emergency responders in Ondo State successfully averted a potential disaster by preventing a tanker explosion, further underscoring the critical role of rapid response services in safeguarding lives and property.
The Lagos State Government reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening emergency response systems to further reduce fire incidents and associated losses across the state.
