Super Eagles Defender: Chibuike Nwaiwu
Turkish Süper Lig side Trabzonspor have reportedly placed a staggering €40 million valuation on Super Eagles defender Chibuike Nwaiwu, signaling their intent to ward off growing interest from top European clubs ahead of the summer transfer window.
According to reports, the Black Sea Storm have already turned down offers in the region of €20 million for the 22-year-old defender, choosing instead to double their asking price as his stock continues to rise following an impressive breakout season in Turkey.
If completed at the asking price, the deal would become the most expensive transfer in Turkish football history, surpassing the previous record set by the €27.5 million sale of Ugurcan Çakır from Trabzonspor to Galatasaray.
Nwaiwu, who joined Trabzonspor from Nigerian side Enyimba International FC in January for €5.5 million, has quickly established himself as a key figure in the squad.

His versatility capable of playing across central defence and defensive midfiel alongside his strength and technical ability, has made him one of the standout young defenders in the league.
Top European clubs, including Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen and Premier League side Fulham FC, are reportedly monitoring his development closely.
Despite the mounting interest, Trabzonspor are in a strong negotiating position, with Nwaiwu still under contract for four more years and showing no public desire to leave the club.
The coming transfer window is expected to test the Turkish club’s resolve, as Europe’s elite weigh up whether to meet the hefty €40 million valuation for one of Africa’s fastest-rising defensive talents.
