
Several passengers were injured on Monday, May 18, 2026, after a speeding Honda vehicle collided with two commercial tricycles along Ipaja Road in Lagos.
The accident occurred around 8:50 a.m. near the Federal Bus Stop and involved a Honda car with registration number KTU 921 JY.
According to eyewitnesses, the female driver of the vehicle was allegedly driving at high speed when she attempted to avoid a street sweeper working with the Lagos Waste Management Authority.
Witnesses said the driver struck the sweeper before losing control of the vehicle, crossing to the opposite lane, and crashing into two tricycles carrying passengers.

About 10 passengers reportedly sustained varying degrees of injuries in the crash. Some victims suffered serious wounds, while others escaped with minor injuries.
Sources at the scene said the injured passengers were first rushed to a nearby private hospital before some were later transferred to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital for further treatment.
Security operatives, including officers from the Gowon Police Division, neighbourhood watch officials, and personnel of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, were seen managing traffic and coordinating rescue efforts at the scene.
Authorities had yet to issue an official statement on the incident as of the time this report was filed.
