Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Lagos State Command, have arrested suspected vandals caught destroying armoured telecommunications cables in Amuwo-Odofin.
The arrest followed an alert from residents who noticed suspicious activity in the community and promptly informed NSCDC operatives.
Confirming the incident on Thursday, the command’s Public Relations Officer, Oluwaseun Abolurin, said the operation succeeded due to credible intelligence provided by members of the public.
He described the breakthrough as part of the command’s ongoing efforts to curb vandalism and protect critical infrastructure across Lagos.

He added that the growing partnership between residents and security agencies has been strengthened through community engagement programmes held in the first and second quarters of 2026 with relevant stakeholders.
The command said investigations are ongoing to identify any accomplices and determine the full extent of the damage.
