Xabi Alonso has made a major demand to Chelsea as he considers taking over at Stamford Bridge.
The former Bayer Leverkusen and Real Madrid manager is reportedly keen on building a long-term project at Chelsea similar to what Luis Enrique has done at Paris Saint-Germain. According to The Touchline, Alonso believes he can lift the Blues to that level if given the right authority.
Alonso’s main request is full control over the squad and key sporting decisions. The report, shared on X to its 1.6 million followers, states that BlueCo, Chelsea’s ownership group, are willing to grant him that power after lessons learned during Enzo Maresca’s tenure.

The Spaniard had been linked with a return to Liverpool, but Fenway Sports Group have chosen to keep Arne Slot at Anfield. That leaves Chelsea as a potential destination for Alonso as he looks for his next managerial role.
BlueCo currently handles transfer activity independently, but giving Alonso control would mark a shift in how the club operates on sporting matters.
