The Victim Allegedly Killed By A Policeman
The Nigeria Police Force has forwarded the case file involving the killing of 28-year-old Mene Ogidi in Delta State to the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation for prosecution.
This development follows the dismissal of the police officers implicated in the incident, a decision confirmed by the Police Service Commission.
Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, disclosed during a press briefing in Abuja that the move marks a critical step toward ensuring justice.
According to him, the case file has been officially submitted to the Attorney General’s office for vetting and prosecution, with assurances that the police will fully cooperate to ensure the case is pursued to its logical conclusion in court.
Investigations revealed that the incident occurred on April 26 in Effurun, Delta State, after the deceased reportedly received a parcel containing a fabricated Beretta pistol and four rounds of 9mm ammunition. He was said to have been apprehended by citizens before police officers arrived at the scene.
However, the situation escalated when the team leader, identified as ASP Nuhu, allegedly shot the already restrained and unarmed suspect an action described by authorities as a violation of established rules of engagement.

The police reiterated that no suspicion of crime justifies extrajudicial action, emphasizing that every suspect is entitled to due process under the law.
Authorities also confirmed that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other individuals connected to the case, including the courier driver and two vigilante members.
Reaffirming its stance on accountability, the police assured the public and the victim’s family that justice will be served, stressing that no officer regardless of rank is above the law.
