
Tension gripped parts of Kano metropolis after a violent clash involving suspected thugs disrupted activities at the popular Farm Centre mobile phone market, leading to the arrest of six suspects by the police.
According to the Kano State Police Command, the incident occurred on Monday afternoon following a distress call reporting that suspected ‘Yan Daba’ groups had mobilised for a confrontation.
Police spokesperson, CSP Abdullahi Haruna, disclosed that patrol teams were immediately deployed to the scene.
Upon arrival, officers encountered an ongoing clash, during which an ambulance was vandalised and nearby areas were threatened.
The situation escalated when the hoodlums reportedly turned on security operatives, attacking them with stones and other dangerous objects. However, the police successfully repelled the assault.

The suspects later regrouped and moved toward the Farm Centre Market, attempting to break into shops and loot goods. Reinforcements were swiftly deployed, bringing the situation under control and leading to the arrest of six individuals.
Authorities confirmed that calm has since been restored in the area.
Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, condemned the incident and issued a strong warning against thuggery and public disorder.
He also urged parents and guardians to caution their wards against engaging in criminal activities.
Investigations are ongoing, with efforts underway to apprehend other fleeing suspects and uncover those behind the attack.
Eyewitnesses reported that the assailants stormed the market in broad daylight, causing panic among traders and customers while wielding weapons to intimidate victims.
