During the attack, a student identified as Purity Babangida lost her life while attempting to escape from the scene. The gunmen subsequently abducted at least six others, including students and adults who were on the journey.
According to a local source, the victims were on their way back to school following a break, unaware of the danger ahead. The attackers struck less than ten minutes into the trip, taking advantage of the remote nature of the area.
Amid the chaos, about 15 students managed to escape by jumping off the moving vehicle. They reportedly trekked through the bush for hours before reaching nearby communities where they sought safety.
As of the time of reporting, authorities in Kaduna State, including the police, had yet to issue an official statement on the incident, raising fresh concerns over the persistent insecurity in the region.
