The Delta State Police Command has recorded a major breakthrough in its ongoing crackdown on crime, intercepting suspected illicit drugs concealed inside electric bulbs and recovering a firearm during a separate operation.
According to security sources, the first discovery was made when operatives, acting on intelligence reports, intercepted a consignment suspected to contain illegal substances.
During inspection, officers reportedly uncovered that the drugs had been carefully hidden inside hollowed-out electric bulbs, a method believed to be used to avoid detection during transportation and routine security checks.
Authorities described the concealment method as deliberate and sophisticated, noting that criminal networks are increasingly adopting unusual packaging strategies to move prohibited substances across locations.

The intercepted items have been taken into custody for further examination, while investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend those behind the shipment.
In a separate operation, police officers also recovered a firearm during a targeted raid on a suspected criminal hideout within the state.
The weapon was seized as part of efforts to curb the spread of illegal arms and reduce violent crime, although details regarding arrests linked to the recovery were yet to be fully confirmed at the time of reporting.
The command reiterated its commitment to intelligence-led policing and sustained operations aimed at disrupting criminal activities across Delta State.
Residents were also encouraged to remain vigilant and continue supporting security agencies with credible information to help maintain peace and safety in the region.
