A controversy has emerged in Lagos State following a woman’s claim that one of her newborn twins allegedly went missing shortly after delivery, a claim firmly denied by the hospital involved.
The incident occurred at a private medical facility identified as Tip-Top Solution Hospital in the Ikotun area of Lagos, where the woman reportedly gave birth.
A viral video circulating on social media showed the visibly distressed mother confronting hospital staff while holding a newborn baby.
She insisted that she had been pregnant with twins, as indicated by her antenatal scan, and demanded the whereabouts of the second child.
In the footage, she was heard accusing the hospital of wrongdoing and insisting that her second baby be produced, while relatives who accompanied her also called for the arrest of hospital staff over alleged baby trafficking.
Medical documents shown during the confrontation reportedly indicated that an earlier scan conducted during pregnancy showed a twin gestation, with two fetuses observed and details suggesting different fetal positions and genders.

However, the hospital management strongly denied the allegations, insisting that only one baby was delivered.
The medical director maintained that the scan results presented by the patient were inaccurate and that no second baby was observed during delivery.
According to the hospital, the father of the babies was present in the delivery room and confirmed that only one child was born.
The management also claimed that the mother was awake during the procedure and aware of the process.
They further suggested that the discrepancy may have resulted from an error in early-stage ultrasound scanning, adding that such mistakes can occur if scans are not confirmed through multiple checks.
The hospital also admitted that it should have advised the patient to undergo a repeat scan at another facility to avoid misunderstanding.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Police Command has confirmed it is aware of the incident and has launched an investigation to establish the facts surrounding the case.
Police spokesperson SP Abimbola Adebisi stated that relevant professional bodies have been contacted and are collaborating with investigators. The command assured the public that findings would be made available after due inquiry.
Authorities also urged residents to remain calm as investigations continue.
