
The Abia State Police Command says its ongoing crackdown on violent crime has led to the neutralisation of three suspected kidnappers and the arrest of nine others involved in various criminal activities across the state between April 1 and 14.
Briefing journalists on Tuesday, Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa, described the operations as part of the Command’s “continuous strides in fulfilling its constitutional mandate,” noting that the achievements were made possible through intelligence-led policing.
He disclosed that operatives recovered a significant cache of arms and exhibits during the period, including 10 AK-47 rifles, two locally made pistols, three single-barrel guns, one pump-action gun, 44 rounds of live ammunition, and three vehicles.
Other recovered items include ₦12,650 in cash, two mobile phones, bundles of keys, a sack of gunpowder, seven walkie-talkies, face masks, hand gloves, SIM cards, a necklace, a military cap, and several charms.

According to him, eight male suspects and one female suspect were arrested in connection with offences including kidnapping, armed robbery, vehicle theft, defilement, conspiracy, and unlawful possession of firearms.
CP Isa confirmed that investigations are ongoing at the State Criminal Investigation Department, adding that all suspects will be charged to court upon completion of investigations.
He reiterated the Command’s commitment to strengthening intelligence-led operations and urged residents to continue cooperating with security agencies by providing timely and credible information
