The Nigeria Police Force has arrested 50 suspects in a major nationwide raid targeting criminal activities, including killings of security personnel, kidnapping, and armed robbery.
The operation, carried out by the Force Intelligence Department–Intelligence Response Team, led to the recovery of dangerous weapons such as rifles, ammunition, and an anti-aircraft launcher.
According to the Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Placid, the raid forms part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal syndicates operating across the country.
He disclosed that since January 2026, operatives have disrupted several criminal networks and seized weapons used to terrorise communities.
Among the items recovered during the operation were 17 rifles, one anti-aircraft launcher, over 100 rounds of live ammunition, cartridges, communication devices, and a vehicle.
One of the key successes of the raid was the arrest of a 33-member gang linked to terrorism, cattle rustling, and an attack on a church in Kwara State.

The police also apprehended suspects connected to the killing of three officers in Donga, describing the arrests as a major breakthrough in the pursuit of justice.
In the Federal Capital Territory and surrounding areas, security operatives uncovered criminal groups involved in “one-chance” kidnappings, car theft, and illegal checkpoint operations used to rob unsuspecting victims.
In a separate operation in Benue State, a 25-year-old suspect, Nasiru Ibrahim, was arrested with an AK-47 rifle and ammunition. Investigations revealed that the weapon was allegedly supplied by a wanted bandit identified as Janari, who is currently on the run.
Placid stated that the arrests have significantly reduced the activities of criminal elements and helped recover stolen property and operational tools used by the suspects.
He added that efforts are ongoing to track down fleeing members of the syndicates.
The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, reaffirmed the force’s commitment to strengthening security across the country.
He noted that the success of the operation highlights the effectiveness of intelligence-driven policing.
He also disclosed that many of the suspects will soon be charged in court, while investigations continue to ensure all those involved in the crimes are brought to justice.
