At least 30 people have reportedly been killed and hundreds abducted after armed attackers invaded Dekara community in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.
Residents said the attackers stormed the community and attacked a Friday mosque, leaving several people dead and many others missing.
Funeral prayers have been held for some of the victims whose deaths were confirmed, while families continue to search for relatives who were abducted during the attack.
The incident has renewed concerns over the security situation in parts of Niger State, particularly communities located near forests and border areas where armed groups have carried out attacks and mass abductions.

Residents have appealed to security agencies to strengthen their presence in the area and take measures to prevent further attacks on civilians and places of worship.
However, authorities have yet to release an official figure confirming the number of people killed or abducted in the incident.
The identities of the attackers and their whereabouts also remain unclear, while security agencies are expected to investigate the attack and intensify efforts to locate and rescue those abducted.
