
The African Action Congress (AAC) has officially adopted Omoyele Sowore as its consensus presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.
The announcement was made during the party’s presidential primary process on Monday, as delegates and party stakeholders endorsed Sowore to represent the AAC in the next presidential race.
Chairman of the AAC Presidential Primary Election Committee, Kayode Babayemi, described the decision as a reflection of the party’s confidence in Sowore’s leadership and long-standing commitment to democratic ideals.
Babayemi said the AAC believes Sowore has remained consistent in advocating for transparency, accountability and reforms aimed at strengthening democracy in Nigeria.

He also appreciated party members and supporters for their continued loyalty and support for the vision of the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking after accepting the nomination, Sowore said the AAC remains a genuine opposition platform that offers Nigerians a credible political alternative.
According to him, the party has continued to operate independently despite political challenges and pressure from established political interests.
Sowore further stated that the AAC would continue championing policies focused on good governance, social justice and economic reforms as preparations for the 2027 election gather momentum.
Political parties across the country have continued consultations and internal preparations ahead of the next general election, expected to shape Nigeria’s political landscape in the coming years.
