Former Spain goalkeeper Iker Casillas has hailed Morocco goalkeeper Yassine Bounou following his stunning penalty save against France captain Kylian Mbappe during their 2026 FIFA World Cup quarter-final clash.
Mbappe was awarded a penalty in the first half after Morocco defender Noussair Mazraoui fouled him inside the box. However, Bounou dived the right way to deny the French captain from the spot.

Reacting to the save, Casillas took to X, where he wrote, “Mamma mia Bono!” in praise of the Moroccan goalkeeper’s performance.
The save further strengthened Bounou’s impressive World Cup penalty record. The Morocco international has now conceded only two of nine penalties faced at the tournament, including shootouts. He has saved four penalties, while three others were missed by the takers.
Despite the missed spot-kick, France defeated Morocco 2-0, with goals from Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele sealing the victory and a place in the World Cup semi-finals.
