A 15-year-old girl identified as Amarachi has been rescued after she was allegedly locked inside a toilet for several months by her employers in Abuloma, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The teenager, who reportedly hails from Ebonyi State, was said to have been living with a couple, identified as Eze Simeon and his wife, as a domestic worker.
Amarachi was allegedly confined to the toilet as punishment after she was accused of committing an offence.
Reports said she was subjected to severe neglect during the period, including being fed only once daily with leftover food. The teenager was rescued on Tuesday after she reportedly raised an alarm while the couple were away from the house.

Her cries for help attracted the attention of neighbours, who contacted the police at the Abuloma Police Division.
Police officers subsequently arrived at the residence and rescued the girl from the alleged confinement.
A video shared on social media showed officers bringing the teenager out of the house, while a man believed to be living at the residence was arrested.
The video also showed a woman giving information to the police about the incident and calling for the arrest of the man’s wife, who was allegedly involved in the girl’s confinement.
The full circumstances surrounding the alleged abuse and the specific offence the teenager was accused of committing were not immediately clear.
The police in Rivers State had also not issued a detailed statement on the incident at the time of the report.
Authorities are expected to investigate the allegations and determine the circumstances surrounding the teenager’s confinement and alleged maltreatment.
