A Federal High Court in Canada has upheld the decision to deny Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey entry into the country, ruling him out of the Black Stars’ 2026 FIFA World Cup opener vs Panama on Wednesday in Toronto.
The ruling came Tuesday after Partey’s legal team appealed a visa refusal. The 33-year-old former Arsenal midfielder had been barred from travelling with the rest of the Ghana squad.

Partey’s visa issues stem from ongoing criminal proceedings in the UK. He faces seven charges of rape and one count of sexual assault relating to allegations by four women between 2020 and 2022.
He has pleaded not guilty to all charges, with trial scheduled for later this year.
The decision is a major blow for Ghana on the eve of their Group L opener against Panama.
