Italian football officials are said to have held discussions with Guardiola as they search for a new coach to lead the Azzurri following a disappointing World Cup qualifying campaign.
Reports indicate that FIGC technical director Paolo Maldini, accompanied by adviser Leonardo, travelled to Barcelona to meet with the Spanish tactician and discuss the possibility of him taking charge of the national team.
While no agreement has been reached, it remains unclear whether Guardiola is prepared to return to management or take on his first international coaching role.
Italy is looking to rebuild after failing to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, a setback that led to the departure of Gennaro Gattuso as head coach.
Guardiola is not the only name under consideration, with former Italy boss Roberto Mancini and ex-midfielder Andrea Pirlo also reportedly in contention for the position.
The Italian Football Federation is expected to continue its search in the coming weeks before making a final decision on who will guide the national team into its next chapter.
