Nigerian singer Oludemilade Martin Alejo, better known as YCee, has explained why he stayed off the music scene for several years.
Speaking during a recent livestream with content creator Cater Efe, the ‘Juice’ crooner said he took a break to focus on personal development. He described the time as a journey of self-discovery, but confirmed he is now back to making music.
“I have been on the mountain. I went on a journey of self-discovery. But I am back,” YCee said.

The singer also shed light on his nickname “Omo Alhaji.” He explained that his father is Muslim, even though he does not practice the religion himself. For YCee, his personal spiritual philosophy comes down to one thing: love.
Before his hiatus, YCee was one of the dominant voices in Nigerian music. He released hit songs including ‘Jagaban,’ ‘Juice,’ and ‘Omo Alhaji,’ which earned him widespread recognition across the country.
