Afrobeats star Tiwa Savage has emphasized that talent alone is not enough to succeed in the music industry.
The 46-year-old artist shared this perspective while explaining the mission behind the Tiwa Savage Music Foundation, which is focused on helping up-and-coming African creatives gain opportunities.
“Music changed my life, but talent alone isn’t enough—especially when access is limited,” she said, adding that she hopes to broaden people’s understanding of what’s possible within the industry.

Savage is set to host a grand finale concert on April 26 for more than 100 participants who completed the program, organized in collaboration with Berklee College of Music. The event will take place at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and the Creative Arts and will be hosted by Darey Art Alade and Kie Kie.
Beyond supporting artists, Savage said her goal is to cultivate a new generation of industry leaders, including producers, executives, and entrepreneurs who can shape the future of music.
She added that alumni of the foundation are expected to grow into roles such as film composers, label executives, and mentors who will give back to others. According to Savage, the initiative’s success will be measured by its impact—especially if it can transform the lives of young musicians from underserved communities.
