The Western Conference Finals began in dramatic fashion as the San Antonio Spurs defeated the defending champions, Oklahoma City Thunder, 122-115 in a thrilling double-overtime contest.
Leading the way for San Antonio was French sensation Victor Wembanyama, who produced a historic performance with 41 points and 24 rebounds.
The 22-year-old sealed the victory with a spectacular alley-oop dunk late in the second overtime period, helping the Spurs steal home-court advantage in the best-of-seven series.

The highly anticipated clash also featured reigning MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who finished with 24 points and 12 assists for Oklahoma City. Despite his efforts, the Thunder suffered their first postseason defeat after previously sweeping both the Phoenix Suns and the Los Angeles Lakers in earlier playoff rounds.
Wembanyama’s dominant outing etched his name into NBA playoff history, making him the youngest player ever to record at least 40 points and 20 rebounds in a postseason game.
He also joined NBA legend Wilt Chamberlain as the only players to achieve the feat in their Conference Finals debut.
San Antonio also received a major contribution from rookie guard Dylan Harper, who added 24 points and 11 rebounds in an impressive playoff display.
For Oklahoma City, veteran guard Alex Caruso came off the bench to score 31 points, while Jalen Williams contributed 26 points in the losing effort.
Game Two of the series will again take place in Oklahoma City on Wednesday as the Thunder attempt to level the series before it shifts to San Antonio.
