
A security guard identified as Stanley has been killed in a suspected cult-related attack at Royale Estate in the Sangotedo area of Lagos State.
The incident reportedly occurred on Friday night between 10pm and 11pm when gunmen stormed the estate and opened fire.
According to an eyewitness, Stanley, who was on duty at the time, was shot several times, including in the head. The attackers reportedly fired into the air before fleeing the area.
The incident was also shared on social media, with posts alleging that suspected cult members were responsible for the attack.
Confirming the incident, the Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said the victim was shot by two unidentified individuals riding a motorcycle.
“The incident occurred. He was shot by two unknown individuals on a motorcycle. The command has launched an investigation into the incident. No suspect yet,” Adebisi said.

The police have commenced an investigation as efforts continue to identify and apprehend those responsible for the killing.
The incident comes weeks after another security guard, identified as Godwin, was allegedly killed by suspected cultists in the Abule Ijesha area of Yaba, Lagos, in an attack that also left three other people injured.
Asenexpress reports that residents and security personnel are increasingly concerned about attacks targeting guards and other vulnerable persons in Lagos communities.
