A joint security operation in Delta State has led to the arrest of a suspected kidnap kingpin, Abubakar Usman, following the successful rescue of an abducted woman.
The operation was carried out by the Delta State SafeCity Security Service alongside officers of the State Police Command after receiving reports that Mrs. Blessing Chiedu had been kidnapped along Ani-Ifekide Farm Road in Ubulu-Uku on July 2. Her abductors reportedly demanded a ransom of ₦100 million from her family.

Using advanced surveillance technology, security operatives tracked the victim’s location and rescued her safely along the Ubulu-Unor/Ashama Road without injuries.
Following the rescue, the security team launched a manhunt for the kidnappers. The search led them to a forest hideout around the Ogwashi-Uku/Adonta area, where they engaged the suspects in a gun battle.
During the operation, Abubakar Usman was arrested, while other members of the gang reportedly escaped deeper into the forest with their weapons.
Authorities believe the suspect and his gang have been linked to several kidnapping incidents in Igbodo, Umunede, and nearby communities, where victims’ families were allegedly forced to pay large sums in ransom.
Security agencies said investigations are ongoing and efforts have been intensified to arrest the remaining members of the gang and strengthen security across the affected communities.
