Two residents have been rescued alive after a section of a one-storey residential building collapsed in the Kubwa area of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The incident occurred on Friday when the right section of the building suddenly collapsed, trapping the two residents on the ground floor.
The Head of Media and Public Relations of the Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Department (FEMD), Nkechi Isa, confirmed the incident in a statement.
Isa said the emergency agency received a distress call and promptly mobilised its personnel to the scene.
According to her, rescuers successfully located and brought the two trapped residents out of the rubble alive.

The victims were subsequently taken to Kubwa General Hospital for medical attention and are currently in stable condition.
Isa explained that the affected property consists of six blocks of flats. She noted that other occupants were away from the building at the time of the collapse, preventing further casualties.
Although no fatalities were recorded, the incident resulted in significant damage to personal belongings and household items belonging to residents.
Officials of the Department of Development Control and the FCT Police Command also responded to the scene.
The authorities secured the area and commenced investigations to determine the circumstances surrounding the structural failure and establish the cause of the collapse.
