Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued two kidnapped herders and recovered 520 livestock during an operation in Sokoto State.
The operation took place on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, when soldiers foiled an attempt by suspected terrorists to abduct herders and steal livestock in Takasaba Village, Sabon Birni Local Government Area.
According to the military, troops acted on credible intelligence and engaged the attackers, forcing them to flee and abandon the stolen animals and two victims.
The rescued herders were identified as Malam Sulaiman, 50, and Nasiru Sulaiman, 14. They were subsequently handed over to the Sabon Birni Local Government authorities.
In a separate operation, soldiers conducting a patrol along the Anka–Guruzu Road in Zamfara State came under an ambush by terrorists positioned on both sides of the road.
The troops fought back, inflicting heavy casualties on the attackers and forcing them to retreat. The military said the operation also helped restore freedom of movement along the affected road.
