An air traffic control officer at an airport in Sokoto State and a farmer have appealed to the Nigerian government, their families and the public for urgent intervention after spending 52 days in terrorists’ captivity.
The victims, identified as Mujahid Ado Alkassimu and Sa’idu Abubakar, made the appeal in a video shared online by conflict reporter Bakatsine on Sunday.
According to the footage, the two men were abducted while travelling from Sokoto to Kano to visit their families. They said armed men intercepted them along the Gusau–Tsafe–Funtua route.
Alkassimu, who works as an Air Traffic Control Officer at Sokoto Airport and also as a teacher, said he had been held captive for 52 days. He appealed to his family, his employing agency and the Federal Government to take urgent steps to secure his release

The second victim, Abubakar, identified himself as a farmer based in Sokoto State. He also called on his relatives, friends, well-meaning Nigerians and the Sokoto State Government to intervene and help secure their freedom.
The appeals come amid persistent security concerns across Nigeria’s North-West, where armed groups have continued to target travellers and residents through kidnappings and attacks along major roads.
As of the time of this report, there was no publicly confirmed information on whether the authorities had secured the victims’ release or taken further action following the video.
