Troops of Operation HADIN KAI, in collaboration with members of the Yobe State Hunters Group, have arrested five suspected kidnappers during a coordinated security operation in Fune Local Government Area of Yobe State.
The operation, which was carried out around 2:00 p.m. on July 23, followed credible intelligence reports on the activities of suspected criminal elements operating in Jegalari village.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, troops of the 233 Battalion stationed at the Damaturu Military Cantonment, working alongside local hunters, stormed the suspected hideout and successfully apprehended the suspects.
The arrested individuals were identified as Hassan Lawan (28), Isah Bello (30), Haruna Suleiman (20), Ibrahim Bello (20), and Ahmadu Haruna (19).
Security operatives also recovered a cache of weapons and items during the raid, including three locally fabricated AK-47 rifles, one locally made pistol, two rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 12 rounds of 9mm pistol ammunition, as well as four mobile phones.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects are natives of Ririn Village in Rano Local Government Area of Kano State. They reportedly identified themselves as cattle rearers of Fulani origin.
Authorities confirmed that the suspects, along with the recovered exhibits, have been taken into military custody for further interrogation to ascertain their level of involvement in kidnapping and related criminal activities.
The successful operation is part of ongoing intelligence-driven efforts by security forces to dismantle kidnapping networks and curb criminal activities across the North-East and surrounding regions.
Security sources noted that calm has since returned to the area, although troops remain on high alert to prevent any possible retaliation or resurgence of criminal operations.
